HIRTA Receives Grant Support for Vehicle Replacement

HIRTA has received a $7,500 grant to help fund the purchase of a replacement vehicle for its fleet.

Reliable vehicles are essential to providing safe, dependable transportation for people across HIRTA's seven-county service area. The funding will help ensure riders can continue accessing medical appointments, employment, education, grocery stores, and other services.

"We are grateful for this support and investment in rural public transportation," said HIRTA CEO Julia Castillo. "Every vehicle in our fleet plays an important role in connecting people to the services and opportunities they need."

HIRTA provides door-to-door public transportation for anyone, regardless of age, income, or ability, helping keep communities connected throughout central Iowa.

HIRTA thanks the Greater Madison County Community Foundation for their continued support.
