Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 08.06.2023

This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) discloses the practices of HIRTA, concerning information we obtain by and through your use of the HIRTA website (http://www.ridehirta.com) and HIRTA mobile app (the “App”), and through other interactions and communications you have with us (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Services and becomes effective as soon as you access or use the Sites or the Application.

Section 1 - The HIRTA App

HIRTA does not collect or store personal information from customers downloading, installing or using the App on Apple, Android, or Windows smartphone or mobile devices. However, personal information is collected when customers use the App to register for a HIRTA account. Payment information is collected when customers sign up to make ticket purchases in the App.

Section 2 - What Do We Do With Your Information?

When you browse our site, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system.

HIRTA is currently conducting a research project. The Health Connector is an innovative solution that will address various bottlenecks associated with transportation access to healthcare for HIRTA communities. This solution will allow Dallas County residents without access to transportation who may be seeking a medical appointment to identify and book available transportation through a smart device (e.g., smartphone, smartwatch) application, and healthcare staff will have access to the same trip planning and booking features, allowing them to schedule a patient’s transportation at the same time that a medical appointment is booked.

HIRTA may collect information such as age, gender, socio-economic status along with trip information such as trip duration, whether a trip was canceled. This information is being collected so that HIRTA can assess the effectiveness of the Health Connector app. This information will be collected about your trip and you will be assigned a random user code. Personal information such as name, address, or payment information is not gathered for this purpose. HIRTA is working with Iowa State University who will have access to and will evaluate the Health Connector app using trip level data. Information about individual trips will not be shared outside the research team.  Data from multiple trips from multiple users will be aggregated and may be shared. This information will not contain any information that can identify you or your individual trip.

Section 3 - Consent

How do you get my consent?

  • When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

By using the Health Connector app to access transportation to healthcare, you are giving consent for all trip level data to be used in this research project.

How do I withdraw my consent?

  • If after you opt-in, if you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information, at any time, by contacting us at safety@ridehirta.com or mailing us at: HIRTA 2824 104th Street, Urbandale, IA 50322, United States.

Section 4 - Disclosure

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service.

Section 5 - Third-Party Services

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us. However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

As an example, if you are located in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Once you leave our website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

Also, messages may be activated by beacon devices in a public space, which communicate location, transit, or event information. To manage notifications for the Application, go to the notifications area in the settings for your device and select HIRTA.

Section 7 - Social Sharing Features

The Sites or App may integrate with social sharing features and other related tools which let you share actions you take using the Services with other applications, websites, or media, and vice versa. Your use of such features enables the sharing of information with your friends or the public, depending on the settings you establish with the social sharing service. Please refer to the privacy policies of those social sharing services for more information about how they handle the data you provide to or share through them.
